Maultier with Rocket Pack

1/35th scale plastic kit from Revell with resin figures from Wolf models

Assembled and painted in 2018

Just a quick write-up for this one, I’ve done a few Revell kits now, and I’m never sure what to expect from them. Sometimes they’re very basic, and sometimes they’re very good.

This kit of the Maultier with a rocket pod on the top is in the latter category, being quite well detailed and even possesses a decent amount of internal detail and an engine.

Some might say that it’s a waste if the hatches are to be closed up, but it does allow for a decent framework for the modeller to add to if they do want to have hatches open and a couple of figures dotted about.

I haven’t added anything to the details supplied in the kit excepting the two figures, but I should suspect that there are aftermarket kits available and the possible scratch-builder that could add a lot to what Revell already supply.

The figure on the top deck is from Scale 75, and the one leaning on the front end of the Maultier is from Wolf – sculpted by Roger Saunders, if memory serves – and available from Sovereign 2000.

Both are lovely figures to make and paint, and will enhance the skills of the painter, simply because they’re so well sculpted.

As for painting the vehicle, an airbrushed camo scheme, Burnt Umber washes, some pastel chalks for weathering and a small chopping board from TKMaxx pressed into service as a plinth.
